About Sid
“If you don’t become the ocean, you’ll be seasick every day.” – Leonard Cohen
After accumulating 15 years of experience as an attorney, mediator, and conflict resolution trainer, Sid embarked on a profound and transformative journey into the realm of IFS work. This immersion was crafted through extensive in-person training, encompassing more than 200 hours, with the founder of IFS, Dick Schwartz. Beyond the profound influence from Dick Schwartz, colleagues and friends, Sid’s love of effortless or Self awareness draws inspiration from a diverse spectrum of colleageus and friends including luminaries like Rupert Spira, Byron Katie, Eckhart Tolle, the teachings of Judaism and Christianity, the poetry of Rumi, and even the whimsical fun of Robin Williams and Ferris Bueller. All of these influences converge in a harmonious celebration of the peace, love, and serene joy inherent in our intrinsic Self.
Sid’s life journey has been a mosaic of rich, earnest, and eclectic experiences, and here are some standout moments from his Top 40 Life Experiences that have contributed to his latest creative expression of EIFS:
- He studied and traveled with Nonviolent Communication founder Marshall Rosenberg on and off for a year during his twenties. This deep connection with Nonviolent Communication marked the genesis of his current professional journey which led to founding of the Tucson Center for Compassionate Communication and an aspiration to carry on Rosenberg’s legacy.
- For three transformative months, Sid lived with the esteemed mediator and spiritual teacher Byron Katie. This experience served as a crucible for deepening in his mediation work and his quest for Self abidance.
- He joined the venerable Thich Nhat Hanh on a reverent peace walk for fostering peace and mindfulness in the world.
- Sid had the privilege of attending a small gathering at the White House with the President celebrating bringing compassion into our workplaces.
- His journey also led him to spearhead conflict resolution training in over 100 schools across the United States, employing a loving giraffe puppet as a teaching aid.
- As a versatile artist, Sid facilitated in the field of therapy by providing improv therapy as an active member of the Boulder Playback Theater improv troupe.
- His sense of humor and playfulness extended to performing stand-up comedy at nondual retreats, where he portrayed the voices of contemporary spiritual teachers.
- Sid cherished moments of inspiration and growth while camping with the admired Ram Dass and during a year spent living in a Zen Center, where he immersed himself in spiritual community and practice.
It’s important to note that while Sid has delved deeply into various therapy, healing, and spiritual models, he does not hold a psychology degree. Nevertheless, he has shared his breadth of experience by leading diverse awareness practices, including The Work of Byron Katie, Nonviolent Communication, Nondual Meditation Inquiry, Conscious Movement, Somatic Energy Play, and Oneness in Partnership, each contributing to the mosaic of his current expression in his EIFS work.
